CALED is a Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Quality in Distance Higher Education.

Its principal mission is to contribute to the quality improvement in the higher distance education in all of the Latin American and Caribbean institutions that offer this distance learning. CALED will offer advice mainly in the process of self-evaluation of the programs that require it.     


The virtual center project for the development of quality standards in Latin America and The Caribbean and its evolution from the definition of a model of quality evolution has been applied with some variables in the various universities’ distance education programs. Through a database it has allowed them to compare the standards and analyze the manner in which their distance education program is organized.
